A big change is on the way for Rural Deschutes county residents. Starting 12/1/2023 Residents in Deschutes county outside of City limits will be able to build an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) on their properties.
So what does that mean for you? That means if you own property in Deschutes county that is zoned Rural residential you are now able to build an an ADU that has below 900 square feet of living area, is within 100 feet of the primary dwelling, and it must complain with all current water and septic requirements (no off grid style systems). Then there is one more area specific rule, In the South area of the county (Sunriver to La Pine area pretty much) there is a 5 acre lot size minimum. In the remaining areas the minimum lot size to be eligible is 2 acres (Bend, Sisters, Redmond, Terrebonne, etc.) These ADU’s have the potential to be a great addition to your property. You can now add a unit to make a more multi generational living friendly home, use as a rental property, or additional living for your current family, the options are endless.
We can finance these builds with both Conventional, and FHA financing. With the value being based on the As-Complete amount. Theses products are also available on property you already own, or on new purchases.
